CHALLENGE
AIRBUS Innovation looks at every process for efficiencies, value and net outcome. At the Broughton Wing manufacturing site, a review of sealant bulk mixing and distribution across the vast 439,000 ft2 site showed their existing 45 station approach and a centralised bulk alternative represented opportunities for improvement.
THE SOLUTION
The most effective solution was the design and creation of a central mixing bay linked to every part of the manufacturing line that required sealant, site-wide and on demand by Aerocom Air Tubes, stations and systems.
TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION
With Aerocom Air Tubing, coupling and sealant “carriers” the complete system is fully controlled by multiple AC3000 systems integrated into Airbus’s logistics and project management system with RFID tracking.
BENEFITS & OUTCOME
The Airbus “VACNET” system has eliminated “Non-Value Added” activities, resulting in an immediate 60% costs saving and ongoing time savings in preparation, dispatch and delivery (typically walking) and order accuracy.

CHALLENGE
St. James Hospital Dublin is the largest teaching hospital in Ireland and growing with over 1000 beds. Having already enjoyed the benefits of a modest Air tube system they needed to select a partner with the technology, expertise, experience and support approach to help them implement a site-wide strategy and system.
THE SOLUTION
After a careful selection process, Aerocom was selected as their sole Pneumatic Air Tube system supplier and support partner. We designed and implemented a complete and flexible system which is responsive to their needs as they grow.
TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION
In addition to the typical tubing, blowers, stations and control systems, a central plant room in part of a basement car park houses a robotic “Linear Coupler” and “diverters” to automatically route specimen carriers to and from laboratories and wards.
BENEFITS & OUTCOME
With 210,285 journeys completed in the first eight months of operation, St. James is enjoying significant operational and cost benefits and are rolling the system out further.

CHALLENGE
Retailers on the high street are continually looking for eye-catching approaches or attractions to lure customers in and win business from competitors. UNDIZ, the cool, global lingerie brand based in France needed something fun that also maximised costly retail unit rental charges.
THE SOLUTION
The UndizMachine is born!!! In consultation with Aerocom’s engineers and designers, a creative, innovative and visually stimulating in-store product selection and delivery Air Tube system was created.
TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION
Fun, flare and excitement!!! Customers can browse around the store then select and pay for their required items by using giant touch screens. These screens instruct the “UndizMachine” to pick and deliver the garment from an upstairs secure stock room directly to the counter.
BENEFITS & OUTCOME
The UndizMachine has been an outstanding success and online video sensation attracting significant publicity, with TV airtime and generating outstanding additional footfall, sales and repeat customers whilst maximising space.
